Guide to Writing Student Papers (Part C)

This guide has been compiled by MasterPen to help students become aware of the rules for writing student papers (semester, degree theses and diplomatic) in order to have an even and scientific result. When grading assignments, universities focus on the extent to which these rules are followed and give priority to students who follow them faithfully.
It is recommended that you study the first and second parts of the writing guide as detailed in the Writing Guide (Part A) and Writing Guide (Part B) before proceeding with the study of this article.

How you present tables, math equations, and units of measurement when you write Student Papers

Annotating Tables, Images, Graphs

Never cite tables, figures, figures, diagrams, etc. without commenting on them in the body of the text. This means that all tables, figures, figures, diagrams, etc. must be linked to your text and must EVERYTHING refer to them either at the end of the sentence (period) and in parentheses as follows: (Fig. 1.1) or (Table 2.2) or (Fig. 3.1) etc. or in the flow of the text as follows: "in Table 3.1 is presented….” ATTENTION: Always capitalize its first letter Pfiber 3.1.

It is prohibited refer to the table as: "as shown in the table below..." or "the table below shows...". But you must reference the table by writing the exact table number.

ATTENTION: The same is true for mathematical relationships. Example: "From relation (2.1) it follows that...".

Images, tables, graphs should be captioned

All figures, diagrams, tables, graphs, whether listed in the text or in the appendix, must be captioned in 10 or 11 pt font size and numbered.

ATTENTION: The numbering of the Table, figure, etc. as well as their title must appear in bold (bold).

Be careful where you place the title on tables, figures and graphs

Write the title in the tables above from the table (e.g. Table 1.1 Swot analysis of the Liquid and Gaseous fuels sector) while in the images, diagrams, figures, etc. write the title (e.g. Figure 2.1 Development index of the total domestic petroleum fuel market, Figure 4.1 Distribution of domestic fuel consumption, by product category) below from the picture/figure/diagram etc.

How do you write titles and sources in tables, figures, graphs?

Table case

In the case of quoting a table, write the numbering of the table in bold lowercase letters with the first letter capitalized (e.g. Table 2.3) and align to center and from below single-spaced and centered, write the table title in bold lowercase letters with the first letter capitalized (eg Swot analysis of the Liquid and Gaseous fuels sector) and without a period at the end of the title. Therefore, the title of the tables should be listed below the numbering of the table, i.e. on a separate line.

Just below the single-spaced table, write the word Source with a colon and then the full details of the source as follows: Source: Author (year) or Website Address.

Case of images, figures, etc.

Under single-spaced diagrams, pictures, figures, etc., cite the source by writing the word Source with a colon followed by the full details of the source as follows: Source: Author (year) or Website Address.

Then, under the source, write the numbering of the figures, diagrams, images, etc. in bold lowercase letters with the first letter capitalized (e.g. Figure 4.1) and right of numbering, write the title of the diagram, figure, image, etc. in bold lowercase letters with the first letter capitalized and without a period at the end of the title. Therefore, in figures, diagrams, pictures, etc., the title should be listed on the same line as the numbering.

Font size of text below tables

When quoting text below tables use a 10 pt font size with regular writing, full alignment and single spacing.

How figures, tables and graphs are numbered

All figures, drawings, tables, graphs must be numbered according to the number of the chapter in which they are listed. If for example you want to list a picture in chapter 2 then it will be numbered Fig.2.1., the second picture in the second chapter will be numbered Fig.2.2. coke. The same applies to tables, figures, diagrams, etc.

Presentation of tables, images, graphs

Always list figures, diagrams, images, etc. in the center of the page and not on the right or left. But, make sure that there is space available so that the shape or table or image is not cut in half.

However, if the table you are quoting is long and does not fit on one page then at the top of the next page, write the word ``continued'' and continue listing the table below the word ``continued'' by again writing the table numbering and title at the top of the table.

You never list a table or figure or diagram or figure at the end of the section. The section always ends with text.

Presentation of mathematical equations

Mathematical equations that you write in your text should be centered and spaced one line above and below the text.

Numbering mathematical equations

Mathematical equations should be numbered according to the number of the chapter in which they are listed. If, for example, the mathematical equation is listed in chapter 2, then to the right of the mathematical equation you would write (2.1), for the second mathematical equation in chapter 2 you would write (2.2) and so on.

ATTENTION: Their font size should be 12 moments like the rest of the text.

Font size of equations

Make sure that the equations in your text have the same font size and type as those used in the text you cite below the tables.

Presentation of units of measurement

Write the units of measurement following the SI (Système International) system of units. Meter is ``m'', kilogram is ``kg'' (lower case) not ``Kg'' (not capitalized K), second is ``s'' not ``sec'' ' (CAUTION: S with a capital letter is the unit of measurement for conductivity).

NOTE: In the temperature measurement unit (degrees Celsius) the first letter is capitalized. Also, the unit of measurement of electric current is written with a capital ''A''.

Format units of measure

Write the units of measurement in lowercase (lowercase) letters (second, meter, ampere, newton, kelvin) when you do not mention a number (the numerical value of the unit of measurement) in the text flow.

Leave a space between the symbol and the numerical value of the unit (example: 35 s not 35s, 40 m not 40m).
