Guidelines for Writing Student Papers (Part E)

Formatting rules when writing Student Papers

Underline and bold

Underlining and bolding words or sentences is prohibited within the text.
Only the main section and chapter headings are listed in bold.

USE OF ITALICS

Use italics in words, phrases, or sentences only when you want to emphasize them.
Write the variables (mathematical symbols), terminology/terms and Latin words in italics.
When you enclose text in quotation marks, commas and periods are always placed after the quotation marks, while when the text is written in English, commas and periods are placed inside the quotation marks.
The question mark and exclamation point are placed within the quotation enclosed in quotation marks only when they are part of that quotation.

TITLE AND SUBTITLES FORMATTING

The titles (observe the alternation of capitals and lowercase letters that we quote): the Title of the paper, Contents, the words CHAPTER 1, 2, etc., CHAPTER TITLES, BIBLIOGRAPHY, APPENDIX, List of Tables, List of Diagrams, etc. must be listed with bold, 16 point font size at a distance of 5 cm from the top of the page and center alignment.
The rest of the titles: Summary (aligned in the center), Keywords (aligned left with colon), Introduction (aligned left with numbering 1.1), Subsections of all chapters (aligned left with numbering 1.2, 1.3…2.1, 2.2…etc. ), Conclusions, Titles of Tables, Diagrams, etc. (align on the left and page numbers on the right), Greek Bibliography (align in the center), Foreign Bibliography (align in the center) and Internet Sites (align in the center) must be listed in bold ( bold), font size 14 points at a distance of 5 cm below the top of the page. All subsections (1.1.1, 1.1.2, etc.) must be listed in 12 pt font size, with normal writing and left alignment.
Once you write the 16-point titles, leave a blank line and write the 14-point title underneath, aligned as mentioned above. Then you write the 14-point title, leave a blank line, and then write the text in 12 pt font size with regular writing, full alignment, and 1.5 line spacing.

FORMATTING FOOTNOTES AND BIBLIOGRAPHY

Footnote texts must be in 10 pt font size, in regular font, fully justified, and single spaced.
References should be written in 12 pt font size with regular writing, full alignment and single spacing. Between bibliographic references there should be blank lines to cite subsequent ones.

WHEN DO WE QUOTE A NUMBER IN HOLOGRAPHY AND NEVER IN NUMBERS

Write a number in full when your paper is of the literature review type.
In research papers you can write numbers numerically when they are in the middle of a sentence, while when you want to present a number at the beginning of the sentence you always write it in full text. Therefore, in research papers pay attention to the position of the number in the sentence. At the beginning of the sentence in writing, while in the middle numerically.
ATTENTION: Amounts of money, percentages, page numbers (according to bibliographic references), dates and dates, etc., are always indicated numerically.

SEPARATION OF CAPITAL

Each chapter should start on a new page and should not be a continuation of the previous chapter.

The same not applies to sections and subsections.

SPACE AND PUNCTUATION

Only after the punctuation marks is there a blank space and not before.
There should be no space between paragraphs.
BEWARE of punctuation. You never use periods at the end of titles except in the numbering listed before the title. However, we write 1. followed by the title but never put a period after the second and third level numbering but the numbering is listed as follows: 1.1 and 1.1.1 and not 1.1., 1.1.1.).
